Baby placed on Ebay auction

Written by ED on May 26, 2008 – 8:41 pm - Posted in Society, World |

I was literally shocked to read such a piece of news, in which a 7-month-old baby was put up on Ebay auction. I am not going to parrot the words in the news report though. It kinda struck me with some thoughts after Xizor wrote about his thoughts after attending a wake.

I wonder if “the joke” was really “a joke”, or was it an excuse to buy themselves out of any prosecution. I must say this is a really bad joke to crack at a time where countless countries are cracking down on child prostitution or child trafficking. Can the pressure of being a parent really be that great until one has to seek that little bit of laughter through such a method?

The reason why it reminded me of Xizor’s post is mainly because, what if they were really trying to sell their baby? On one hand, I am looking at a friend whom had lost a respectable mentor. On the other side, I am reading news of a baby placed up for sale. What’s more? Starting from $1, in whatever currency they placed it under.

If it was indeed a real sale, then I say it’s really an utter loss of humanity.

Is it fun? I don’t see any fun in it for sure.

Wtf 1 euro???!! Are they crazy or what.. Even if it’s meant to be a joke, they should know the consequences.
