Smoking does not cause cancer… so why?

Written by ED on April 23, 2007 – 5:06 pm - Posted in Uncategorized |

Let’s admit it, smoking alone is insufficient to grow something out of nothing. Perhaps for those whom read my previous post will start questioning since I do not agree that smoking cause cancer, why is there a need for me to undertake this challenge?

I’ve mentioned, smoking do contribute to the development of cancer cells and in a simpler way of understanding, it promotes the intensity of these genetical mutations which is present in each and everyone of us. Now, you see the difference between “causing cancer” and “promoting cancer growth”?

Ever since I resigned from my previous vocation, I have been piling up tar in me literally. No, the amount of tobacco intake did not increase, but it has remained relatively the same as previously. What’s my point then? My point is - I no longer exercise the way I did back in my days with my previous vocation. Back then, running was an everyday affair. A good 30mins run is our prelude to the start of another night of stake out. This is not something that I have been doing for these 2 years. I began to realise how climbing up the stairs can even leave me panting, when I am staying merely on the third storey. Oh well, that’s the alarm bell ringing that given lesser or no exercise, it’s high time I cut down on my smoking.

This was echoed by a friend who eventually led me into this challenge.

Was I drawn into this fear of cancer that made me start controlling? Far from that, as you can see. All these research and reading from diversified resources made me lose even more trust in what our health department is preaching. Whatever have been presented to me by them, are nothing but a mere joke. Afterall, who are they trying to kid here? If it was that toxic, why wouldn’t they ban it? Try gas-ing yourself for an hour with 20 cigarettes in an enclosed car cabin, and try gas-ing yourself for an hour with the exhaust fumes under the same condition, which do you think you will walk out alive? Apparently, health is what we can preach - but not common sense. To think so many people can still blindly believe in this entire quit-smoking campaign. Honestly, I don’t give a damn.

The only reason why I can bring myself to accept this challenge is the realisation of the deterioration in my health and respiratory endurance. Short and sweet, as simple as that. Just like any other things in life, it’s all about moderation. Why am I not surprised it’s easier for us to fall prey to ailments these days? Look at the amount of medication we take. Didn’t your doctor tell you that taking too much supplements and antibiotics will kill off your natural immune system to battle viruses? Try putting this up, and the health department will come back to you and argue with the same point - prescribe and use with moderation and control. If this applies to medication, why not cigarettes?

Some may argue, cigarettes ain’t a medication at all. Ahem… I am sorry to inform you, in the war frontline where medics are not readily available, you will start to appreciate tobacco more than you’ve ever imagined. Tested and proven on myself when I substained a deep gash on my legs some years back, the application of tobacco on open wounds are extremely good for killing pain and restrain bleeding. Tobacco’s herbal values are well documented in many ways, but ignored. One’s ignorance of the medical values behind tobacco is definitely the poison for the smokers.

Again, this is something the health department is not going to be outright admitting infront of the public. Admitting to this fact, will automatically cancel out the wrong information they have been dishing out in this “war against smoking”.

So now, before you start going to smoking friends and tell them “smoking causes cancer”, think twice and think thrice about this “fact” that you believe in. At least for me, taking up this challenge with an understanding of both sides of the vice is far better than quitting it because of some lame reasons which are not even factual.

Now my friend is in the process of designing a hourly chart from 12midnight to the following, 24 hours chart that is. I am supposed to post this up on a daily basis in my blog. Wish me luck and I will keep all of you posted.

Wish you success in quitting your smoking.

My grandma was a smoker for more than 50 years. She quit smoking when she was 92. She died a natural death at age 97. Nobody can explain why she didn’t get cancer.

ECL, thanks!!! But I ain’t quitting… hahahaha, I am only cutting down that’s all.

Wow, so you are another one with similar experience.

My grandfather smoked since he was 15. He died from other complications that were non-smoke related. I agree, it doesn’t kill.

    Hi there maryanne,

Thanks for dropping by. Looks like we have a heap of examples that have been left ignored.

Totally agreed… But it seems to give rise to another issue.. pple(who’ve been smoking for yrs) seem to die after quitting within a span of 10 yrs… lolx..

    JF,

That’s the irony isn’t it? Apparently, I have read online the stories of how many people died soon after they dropped the habit.

I guess once you stop, you can’t quit. That’s the most plausible way to stay alive, isn’t it? But then again, if you don’t start, never start. And stay that way.

  8. Endoh Taiki Says:

    Lyndon,

That’s true. In fact I would tell those whom have yet to start, never ever start touching it.
