I love dogs absolutely…

How can I not? It’s not just any dog, BUT a Siberian Husky trekking more than 80 miles across desert and mountains just to get home. The survival instincts are so strong, until I find it unbelievable.

My ex-wife and I lost KiKi a few years back though, and he came back knocking and whining at our door after 2 days. We have completely no idea where he was during these two days after searching around the estate. Somehow or rather, he just found his way home.

Here’s the story for the Siberian Husky.

ELY, Nev. - A dog that ran off during a road-trip rest stop apparently made her way nearly 80 miles across Nevada’s high desert and two mountain ranges to return home a week later.

Railroad Valley, about 77 miles from his home in Ely.

Moon, who is nearly 2 years old, was no worse for the wear, with the exception of stinking like a skunk that apparently sprayed her somewhere along the journey.

“I’ve had trouble with her running away before. She’s always come home,” Dashiell said. But he didn’t expect her to show up after a week had passed.

“After seven days — no way,” he told the Ely Times for a story Thursday.

Then the White Pine Veterinary Clinic called Dashiell and told him Moon was back in town. She had wandered up to an Ely residence where Alvin Molea took her home, fed her and gave her a place to sleep.

Molea called the clinic because the dog was wearing a tag from it.

The dog’s journey would have taken her across the White River and Ward mountain ranges.

this story seems to have gaps in it. was it summarized from somewhere? anyway. they didnt say where Molea resides or how far it is from Ely and the place where she was first lost?

and hmm, the 2nd para seems a bit disjointed.

Daphne: It’s the full story, so i didn’t summarized it. I supposed the rest stop is called Railroad Valley, which is 77 miles from Ely - his home.

Molea and Dashiell (owner of Moon) obviously stay in the same town - Ely. Nothing confusing actually.

I doubt the story too. Nowadays people will make any news to be on news.

If her dog really got lost 80 miles away, i think her reply was a bit not right.

She should had replied something that puts the weight on the distance rather than 7 days. I mean even 8 miles for human is a problem but 80 miles for dog and she is putting the weight on the 7 days? Sounded like she half expected the dog to return but the amount of time is more of her concern. Anyway something is not right in her reply.

Teddy: Don’t be surprised how far and fast animals can travel. Even as a herd, the deers and such can cover more than 20 miles in a single day for their seasonal shift. A Siberian Husky is also a working dog… unlike herding and lap dogs. And working dogs are well known to have extremely high stamina.
