My personal endorsement of Scary Harry at Martini InnerCity Festival 2008

One of the common problems among my circle of friends, is finding a drink that is equally strong as what we have been drinking all these years. Having been a drinker of Chivas Regal and Kilkenny for more than 10 years, I haven’t quite seemed to get another drink that got me hooked so badly.

Never mind the Flaming Lamborghini, or Graveyard… or even Seven Wonders of the World. Those are occasional knock-out favourites when served with a mixture of beer, whiskey and red wine. But, drinking isn’t all about puking all over and collapsing on the sidewalks. Some of us just like to sit by the riverside and chill out over drinks. Yet, we do not want to be served with bland and watered down stuffs.

Now look, I’m not an alcohol expert, neither am I trained to be one. I am all but nothing - a plain drinker. That’s to say, it’s that “feel” when the drinks get into me that matters to me more than anything else. If you’re plain drunk, you probably won’t feel any excitement because alcoholic drinks numb your senses when consumed excessively. It will be a waste for you to pick up a Martini if you’re literally - drunk. You just won’t get the kick out of it.

Last night, it was an eye opener for me certainly. Various bar counters with varied concoctions of Martini, I believe some attendees are definitely spoilt for choices. I have always been taught Martini is a lady’s drink (and shamefully I bought into that story), but how wrong this myth is. Now I know what’s so wrong… all because of Lychee Martini. Trust me, if you had tried the drinks last night, they are certainly not.

I tried Martini Japan! and I thought it was relatively mild. The name “Scary Harry” caught my attention and I wondered for a while, c’mon how scary can it be? Oh boy, I was wrong. Imagine such a small glass of Scary Harry took me almost 30mins to finish up. That is definitely not my style for a small drink. We don’t gobble it up for cocktails anyway. But then again, it tells you how potent it can be. Fellow bloggers with me who had a sip each, nodded in agreement. It seemed to be the favourite among invited guests too. It ran out of supply really quick.

I’m not a big fan of fruity drinks, so I gave those a miss. You might want to check with Walter how it’s like for the Strawberry Martini.

If you’re thinking of giving it a shot, this is how you do it. For a price of $99, you are entitled to 20 MIC Martinis at participating outlets. All you need to do, is to bring the card along. Otherwise, you can purchase your Passcard at MIC participating outlets. Hey, that’s only SGD$4.95 per drink. I believe we pay alot more than this usually. If 20 drinks ain’t enough to turn you on, you can top it up. Ok that’s really an “evil” option. Haha…!

EXCLUSIVE MESSAGE FROM MR ENDOH: DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE! (What a bummer! Haha!)

*Thanks to DK for the invitation. It’s perfectly relevant for drinkers like Nelson and myself.
