HDB Spam - when will it ever end?

Totally unsolicited… Notoriously popular… Ridiculously adopted… so if you think spam occurs only via internet, you are so wrong. I am beginning to call all these “HDB Spams” because it is HDB dwellers like myself that frequently get dumped with useless papers.

I wonder if these advertisers (or the distributing agencies) know how much papers they are wasting and what a pest they are to the residents. Some of you may have realized this has turned into a weekly affair, especially on weekends. It seemed to me that HDB dwellers are being targeted for senseless distribution of leaflets for marketing purposes.

Just take a look at the junks I received just 10 minutes ago. I was sitting in the living room watching Discovery Channel when I heard a knock on my gate. I turned around and asked, “Yes?” Without a word… *zoop* … the leaflets fell on the doorway. As the distributor walked past my windows on his trip down, I looked at him and in my heart I went WTF!?!?

I have nothing against leaflets distribution, and I believe many HDB dwellers have been fairly tolerant towards such things being inserted in our mailboxes. But now, they take it one step further and throw all kinds of leaflets into other people’s houses. What do they think this place is? A rubbish chute?

I think it’s rather rude when one goes around throwing such stuffs into others’ properties, HDB or not. The thing is, these people are not here to do sales-talk unlike door-to-door salesmen. They are just finding the easiest targets to “dispose” off their or their clients’ leaflets. The more audacious ones wouldn’t even bother and dump it right before your face through the windows. Even car owners are getting slapped with leaflets and business cards these days.

Now I am considering if I should compile a collection of these leaflets and show up at the next meet-the-people session at the Town Council.
