Friends, are you ready?
Written by ED on August 10, 2008 – 8:23 am - Posted in Friends |I am not quite sure what has gone wrong with us, but I have this hidden disappointment inside my heart which I did not really talk much about. Perhaps I couldn’t think of what words I could use or how should I embark on this topic, but it doesn’t feel good when I watch friends turned into enemies with each other. If that’s how fragile the connection between people can be, then let’s just quit calling each other “friends”.
Well, I am not about to pull my gun on anybody. If you think that is going towards the direction of flaming, unfortunately that’s not going to happen. For a long time, I have always said that this blog is meant for my own enrichment. While I was reading some blogs of friends over an hour ago, I wondered if I could take on a topic that can also help others to improve themselves.
Still, I do not know how to kickstart this. I can’t pinpoint exactly if things have indeed degraded beyond repair. Or maybe, I have gotten to know a much wider circle of people and hence, I get to see a lot more things. Is it a matter of increase or an issue of frequency? I really don’t know.
I know friction between people are not uncommon. Is there really no way we can disagree but still remain as friends? The idealism in me says that is perfectly possible. As a realistic example, I have known bloggers who turned into acquaintances and finally into real friends. Reality always hurts. That said, the recent episodes of fallout painted a different picture. If you don’t agree with me, you’re not in my gang. Really…?
Of course, I am equally vulnerable to such situations too. Sometimes, I find myself slipping into these undesirable conditions. Thankfully, it isn’t a lot. As most people around me knows me by now, I don’t trust easily. My instincts are seldom wrong and just like the past three months, my guesses I kept in my own little space were one-by-one proven right. They just manifested, and I cannot reject reality.
With human relationship being so complex, it cannot be concluded in one single post. Friendship is like our galaxy, with a million stars out there. These stars, are part of what contribute to the friendship. I think I will want to break it down into many parts. Possibly, one factor one post.
I am not sure how you’ll feel but, and I wonder who will even patronize my invitation. No no, not to my house. I meant to invite you, to share with me about the friendships you have had. It can be ANYTHING, like how a single gesture from a friend touched your heart. Or maybe, some memorable things a particular friend had done for you. Better still, if you can share with me what lessons you have learned out of certain experiences.
This is how it goes. You can send your old grandmother tales to me via my contact form. I don’t need a composition, just keep it short like… “A friend suddenly sent a present which I really wanted for a long time. She remembered what I wanted all these years.” Simple? I’m intending to use your real-life examples to append to each point. So basically, this is not my “project”. This is everybody’s project! Maybe you would like to send words out to your other friends to share with me too? Can? Pluuuurrrrrrrrrrrssssseeeeeeee?
Of course, I am already having some ideas in my head. My times in school, my adventures etc… I will share them with you too. Pluuuuuurrrrrrsssssseeeeeee? *pitiful look*

I’ve just been kicked in the face by one who called herself a close friend. So.

When my To PM Lee Hsien Loong blog was launched, all my ‘friends’ disappeared!
I have to think really hard to find one.

That other blog, understandable. Nobody can match up to your guts. Hahaha…! But that’s what your friends appreciate you for. Simply, they know they can count on you.
