A Yebber Lunch @ Earle Swensen, Vivocity
Written by ED on September 23, 2007 – 9:51 pm - Posted in Friends, Singapore |It was a great (wet) morning, and I guess everyone were looking forward to this lunch meetup. Somehow, Claudia couldn’t be reached on her phone so for a while Bobo and I were worrying if she had been kidnapped and packed off to Indonesia in a ferry. Luckily, she called us back.
Feizhu came a while later, and his arrival marked the start of the lunch meetup. To cut the story short, let’s get straight down to the food. Thanks to Claudia who took these beautiful pictures, and I bet people around us must be scratching their head upon seeing Claudia’s huge camera. And so, every dish served to us were “shutter-raped”. That makes us rapists, isn’t it?
Now, let me rape all your eyes…
The ladies’ Salad available with every main dish

Claudia - Grilled Lobster with Black Pepper Pasta

Feizhu - Roast Beef & Egg Sourdough Sandwich

Bobo - Cajun Salmon Fillet

Myself - Sirloin Steak
I have to say, this is probably one of the worst Sirloin Steak I have had. Not only was the steak thin, it was overcooked too. I had actually requested for medium-rare, but it was cooked thoroughly. Can you imagine steak with a fully cooked center? Yes, half my heart went dead. The taste of it kills the other half completely. I shall not say more here. I think I will reserve my detailed review in Yebber.
And no, I don’t think this place is worth the kind of price they command in their menu.

Feizhu - Banana Split

Claudia, Bobo & I - Ice Cream Fondue

It’s a funny thing. I was just telling everyone in the meetup, I seriously don’t understand the hype behind Fondue and Donuts. As much as the reviews and raves are read everywhere, now that one is served before me, it wasn’t really anything special. I really don’t see what the hype is all about, something that I can easily “manufacture” at home. Bananas? I have lots… any takers? Hahaha!
Thank God Feizhu entertained us with his kena-conned stories. The India meal was hilarious, and for another - getting chopped several thousands for just a meal? Geeeezzzz…

Hi Ed,
Nice seeing you finally! Hee… well, ya the food kenna disappointing. It wasn’t this bad at my previous 2 dining there. Maybe the chef is angry or something? haha…
Haven’t got time to update my post yet. Will do so soon.
Looking forward to our next meeting.

Claudia: Nobody really cares if the chef is happy or not. Haha… at a place like this only the quality of food can lock a customer’s heart. Will be waiting for your updated post.
Fel: You are right, it’s over-rated. From the nightspots to the entire shopping place… really nothing much after taking a walk throughout the entire place. It’s just another shopping mall, except it’s bigger.

Will: Absolutely right. Old Chang Kee on the way walking home did the trick.

Ed, I was wondering if the meal was sponsered by Swensen since everyone will blog about it after that :):)

Janice: I wished… if I had knew the quality was that bad I would have chosen not to pay. Too bad, mostly bad reviews, at least from us over the weekend.

Ed, I’m ok with Vivo in general, just not Earle Swensen! Not a single person I know has enjoyed the food…

Fel: Really not worth the money. I could get better stuffs at those prices from a small time fine dining outlet.

Oh poor you. Well at least I got to savour really delicious food haha!
Hmm… though photo’s well taken, but the presentation doesn’t make my saliva drool! Guess your redeeming factor is the wonderful company hahaha
Hey! the meet up is about them, and not the food, isn’t it? *wink*

Kloudiia: True! It’s not really to the point of the artistry behind French food. Claudia had a huge camera with her… that explains the great pictures. The company saves the day.
