Saturday (Home Alone) Lunch

Written by ED on December 1, 2007 – 1:53 pm - Posted in Food |

Haha, I told you I love it when my family is not at home and I can have the whole kitchen to myself right? It’s another beautiful Saturday again, and the silence in the whole house is so sweet. Best of all, I cook my own lunch again. Nothing beats cooking my own lunch. What did I have? Ahemmm…

I don’t know what to call this. Maybe… Cheese Mushrooms Fried Egg Survival Rice? LOL!

The fried egg is the main “star” in my lunch today. Can’t help it, I am such a egg lover. But instead of the usual way of cooking eggs, I decided to do something more to it. It’s fairly simple actually.

Prepare (as many) hard boiled eggs as you like, egg white and biscuits crumbs. Pound the biscuits into smaller little bits. Not powdery ok!? You want to retain a little crunchy-ness.

Roll the hard boiled eggs in egg white first, make sure every bit of the egg is covered with egg white. Otherwise, the biscuit crumbs can’t stick on it.

After that, roll the whole egg in the biscuit crumbs. Lastly, deep fry the egg for about a minute. It’s very fast, and you don’t want to turn your egg black in hot oil.

What’s that criss-cross thingy? Well, it’s actually boiled mushroom with cheese strips. Make sure your serve your mushrooms hot, because when you put the cheesestrips on the mushrooms, it will melt slightly. Rice is stirred slightly with garlic, onion, small bits of chicken cube. The vege is raw by the way. I kinda cut it into tiny strips.

You know what? If you have a little gathering and you can’t think of any dish other than the usual pastry you order, try the fried egg. In Mandarin, it’s actually called “ZA DAN!” How ironical?! What a bomb?! Hahahaha…

So did someone said cooking is troublesome? My lunch took me only half an hour. The only mistake I made, I forgotten to add a little salt to the mushrooms when boiling them. Taste a little raw… LOL!
