My 2nd Secret

Written by ED on May 22, 2008 – 9:21 pm -

Last year, I revealed my first secret. This year, I thought of revealing my second which not even my closest friend knew. I developed a liking to writing screenplays, and did so for four short films. I never really understood how it turned me on to be writing screenplays but for two short years I was doing that. Thinking back on those two years, I’m pretty spurred on that only two scripts required further editing by the senior writers. The remaining two, were used just the way I wrote them.

It all started when I was pursuing Mass Communications more than 10 years ago, where I had to work on a short film as a final project for TV & Radio Production module. I was encouraged greatly when my screenplay scored the second highest in the class. Funnily, my script never got back to me because my lecturer kept it. To get that kind of ego-boost, how can I not try my luck with writing more screenplays?

[VIDEO] Battle at Kruger National Park

Written by ED on May 21, 2008 – 5:20 am -

Can you visualize a young calf, escaping not only from hungry lions but also the jaws of crocodiles all at the same time? Thanks to my dear friend, Crystal, who forwarded me the link, we can now throw away our imagination and watch the episode unfold live before our eyes.

I figured bumping into a group of lions is bad enough. I definitely cannot imagine how long I can last with lions sinking their teeth into my torso and crocodiles jamming their jaws into my rear end. Make a bet how many minutes I can last? This is precisely the kind of survival spirit I love to watch. The way the army of adult buffaloes came charging in looked like the movie “300“. Slow… but steady.

Blog relaunched…

Written by ED on May 5, 2008 – 3:18 am -

The long holiday over the past week gave me some time to set up this blog with a new theme, and relaunched with a little different “branding”. Those whom have complaint feedback-ed to me that the previous colour scheme was too depressing, I hope this little change will make it a slightly more pleasant experience.

With the reason upgrading of Wordpress to Version 2.5, it seemed to me that quite a few themes I have tried are not as compatible as I thought it would be. No pain no gain, I’m not complaining even though it has been quite a hassle for an IT-idiot like me to attempt fixing the problems. I gave up, and by luck I found this theme. I think my previous theme is a tat too heavy, and now I like this clean new look at the expense of my favourite picture you used to see.

I have a serious problem!

Written by ED on April 29, 2008 – 7:41 pm -

The addiction is getting serious, even though it was never meant to be like this in reality. The more restraint I placed on myself, the deeper end of the pits I found myself. If only self control is as easy as switching on the lamp, the problem would have been so much simpler. This open secret could have cost me half my life but thank God it hasn’t.

What are you thinking lah? I merely wanted to say my bad habit of long sentences have to be changed. You reckon I’m on drugs meh? Or addicted to prostitutes like Christiano Ronaldo si bo? You think… you thought… who confirmed?

Time to look into my sentence structures.

Channel 5 has premonition of US presidential election?

Written by ED on April 13, 2008 – 1:00 am -

Local TV stations can be quite boring at times, or maybe I should say most of the times. Today’s “Stay Home Saturday Movie” was great though. I am not sure about the significance of the movie being shown at this point, especially when the battle between Hillary and Obama is getting really spicy for the upcoming presidential election.

The movie - Head of State - depicts the story of how an insignificant black man, Mays Gilliam, was plucked off the street to be thrown into the limelight as a candidate for the presidential election. That was not before his girl dumped him, and losing his job. In opposition, Mays was challenged by Lewis (a white, war veteran & vice president for eight years) who has grown increasingly unhappy with the amount of support Mays have gained from Americans. To cut the story short, the star always win. So Mays won the election, short and sweet.

But midway through the movie, I suddenly realized the similarities between this movie and the US presidential election now. Let’s just take a look at the similarities and the differences.
