A gift

Written by ED on September 17, 2007 – 8:14 pm -

How many times have we receive a gift that we really like? Honestly, it’s rare for me. No doubt alot of efforts have been put in by friends around me, they often end up buying an item as a gift - nothing more than just a visual display. In some cases, we probably dump it after a few years, if not months.

I received a gift this weekend…

Additional Prayers

Written by ED on September 10, 2007 – 11:01 am -

Looks like I left out some folks who are in need, so at the request of Trinity I offer my prayers and I hope Lord will share His blessings He has bestowed on me with other unfortunate people.

Coming to prayers, we are often told to pray for ourselves. I know how much I need Him to be a part of my life, but constantly at the back of my head I know there are people worse off than me. They need Him even more, and why can’t we pray for others? All these years going around different churches, it’s always the same teaching… pray for ourselves and God will always be willing to show us the way. Why not praying for others? Why not pray for other less fortunate who are in need more than ourselves? Have we grown selfish not to share His love and holy spirit?

Prayers for friends

Written by ED on September 10, 2007 – 7:15 am -

Recently, alot of friends have been in some sort of difficult times. From relationship issues to sickness, we just can’t seem to run away from all these isn’t it?

Elder Leonard mentioned something about initiating more conversations with God that day. In a way, how true? We often look to Him only when we are desperately in need of help but we somehow fall short of praising Him, or worshipping Him. No doubt His voice is really really soft and it’s hard to even hear Him at times, but His sons and daughters know He’s there… all the while.

Music & Taxi rides over the busy weekend

Written by ED on August 20, 2007 – 9:51 am -

I haven’t been blogging since I have been busy. We have been complaining alot about taxi drivers right? Look what I’ve found. To sum it up, a taxi driver whom we hope to see every other day. This morning I served up another commendation message, to Citycab.

It was a short note, but I hope that message will add to his good-service roll. I am sure other passengers would have found it pleasant to travel with this particular taxi driver. To sum it up, not only was he friendly, I couldn’t find a single thing that I could penalize him on. Exterior of his taxi was visibly dirty after a whole day of driving but that still doesn’t affects the quality of his service. He wasn’t speeding, he had his signals switched on ALL THE TIME and the part which impressed me the most - keep left if you are not overtaking. This is enough to tell me good habits last a lifetime. How can I not commend and nominate this kind of taxi drivers? No, I am not siding taxi drivers. I am only saying such rare taxi drivers deserved to be nominated. If only we have more such drivers on the streets.

Instead on the journey down to Bugis, what I saw… UGLY UGLY UGLY SINGAPOREAN DRIVERS. Yes, repeat after me…

UGLY SINGAPOREAN DRIVERS!!!

I exited CTE at KK Hospital, and for those who travel there often, you know you have to filter right straight away after turning left from the exit to head towards Little India. If you do not filter right, you will end up going straight towards a one-way turn-left sliproad into KK Hospital. We know that area too, car traffic is always busy with two traffic lights in close proximity.

My poor taxi driver (different driver from above) had his signal switched on for a full 10mins, and there was this champagne gold Toyota Altis who refuses to give way even though we were dangerously close to that one-way turn-left slipway. The driver horned so crazily at my taxi despite the signal. Come on, traffic is jammed and are you going to lose out on anything just to let another car in? Are you able to get to your place faster? I am 200% sure… NO! Why?

From KK Hospital up until Sim Lim junction, that Toyota never managed to pull away from my taxi anything more than 3 car lengths. Mr Toyota driver, you’re a shame… seriously. Count yourself lucky I was giving hand gestures to the car behind you if we could cut in or either way your license plate was blocked, otherwise I would have snap your car license plate and put it up here big and read-able. I will label your car “Banned from receiving any kind gestures”.

All is not that bad though…

FCBC celebrated their 21st anniversary. Apostle Lawrence Khong was charismatic on stage as usual, just like all the time he performed magic with Priscilla. But yesterday, Priscilla and I were among the rest and met up with a few of her friends. (Aiya Pris! Forget to take picture again!) It was really funny when we turned to face one another and says Happy 21st Birthday, hahaha! I wished!!! The re-dedication of myself to Christ on such a day meant alot to me. Being a homeless Child of God, it can only be Him. Too bad I couldn’t join them for lunch, I was rushing for a reservist gathering. Apparently one of the older batch of reservists are “retiring from green fatigue”.

There were 12 prayers categories for this memorable anniversary. One of those was family and friends. On that, I merely utter a simple prayer - that my friends shalt connect. Call it coincidence… or that God was hearing his humble disciple, within an hour after I left the hall someone smsed me. Who the heck is Irene Seet? Do I know her? It was after a short chat on phone then I realised she’s a friend I knew online very very long ago. I’m guessing it had been at least three years since we last talked, and the last time I met her was at her workplace at Havelock Road. A simple fact is, I can’t even remember who she is nor do I have her number anymore. Not forgetting I lost my phone 3 times? Geeeezzzzz… is she the only one?

I reached home, and I saw the MSN window blinking. It was Sam. Sam and I haven’t been talking for a while, not that she’s free all the time. Suddenly, she sent me this message telling me she is sorry for not being able to talk to me… because she has been extremely busy with work. Is this God at work again? Maybe yes, maybe no. Let’s just say… everything fell into place nicely at the right time the moment I spoke to Lord. For that I’m lost and confused, bring me back to Him, guide me in His light and fill my life with His richness.

Divine intervention? Haha!

The other thing… re-written two lyrical works. Did it out of jest or boredom, whatever you called it. Sometimes I just find myself ending up with silly lyrics. Take a look if you’d like, otherwise have a good laugh over it. For those who are lost over my second lyrical works, read my previous post and comments. That’s how it came about. God Is All Around was published on another blogpost some months back.
