The God Chasers Seminar with Tommy Tenney

Written by ED on May 8, 2008 – 10:30 pm -

How does it feels to be a preacher who is facing criticism from almost every direction? Well, that’s precisely why I am looking forward to this seminar on Saturday so much. We have heard so much talks from various Christians of how we should be here… how we should be there… but who is to say anything?

I have attended many churches belonging to the various denominations, but I came to learn that my faith was never about my denomination. Needless to say, it was also never about the title we hold. No doubt we have seen changes in the format of how our faith are being practised everyday, mine is strictly between God and I. Not anybody else…

Forgiveness

Written by ED on May 5, 2008 – 9:17 pm -

A man who was about to fire his gun was shared with the gracious advice that he should be forgiving. He replied, “Forgiveness is between God and him. I am only arranging the meeting.” For a while, I was dumbstruck and wondered who came up with this line in the movie. It wasn’t because the line was cheesy but I feel it reflected a certain dilemma in my life when it comes to forgiveness.

For an hour after the show ended, I sat there quietly and thinking. My Bible was by my side, but I wasn’t reading it. Somehow, I couldn’t bring myself to flip through the pages. I wondered if I should accept this answer or reject it. The thing is we have always been taught to be forgiving. A lot of us spent years trying to forgive someone whom have made life miserable for us in one way or another. On that account, forgiveness is a gracious achievement.

Ghosts? Demons? Spirits? Hello, everyday is not Sunday!

Written by ED on November 24, 2007 – 4:45 am -

Some time back, I mentioned a little about the exorcism I attended, and recently I have been reading a little on the law suit brought against Novena Church by Mrs Amutha Valli. Another blogger also asked for more of my stories. So as I was sitting down reading through the court case, I was inspired to write this post.

The question now, is it really so easy to encounter spirits and demons?

The answer is a very simple one, according to my own “research” and understandings. The answer is… NO! Wake up, my friend!!!

Outstanding Non-Profit Organisation Award 2007

Written by ED on November 19, 2007 – 1:58 am -

As the sermon for forgiveness was delivered this morning in church, Reverend Eugene suggested an action plan for giving and receiving forgiveness - the SPA treatment. Forgive me, because my attention strayed and I found myself trying to apply the SPA treatment to charity causes too.

fcbcyrofvictory.jpgAnyone who visits Faith Community Baptist Church (FCBC) will often see a huge slogan everywhere. It reads “Year of Victory” and nothing more can be as appropriate as that. This year, TOUCH Community Services won the Outstanding Non-profit Organisation Award which recognizes the best practices in volunteers & donors management, inclusive of fundraising practices. Just in case anyone is beginning to wonder what’s the relation between FCBC and TOUCH… well, it’s all the works and vision of one man’s devotion to God - Apostle Lawrence Khong.

How did the SPA treatment for forgiveness come into the picture then?

Christians vs Falstians

Written by ED on November 12, 2007 – 8:23 pm -

If Jeremiah invented a term like Fan-sumer, I came up with the term “Falstians” - the false Christians who are abusing His Words.

I had wanted to pen this long ago, but religious teachings can be such a sensitive topic. For almost an hour, I was speaking to an elder from the Presbyterian church I used to be from. He called to ask how was I and as usual, I began throwing scenarios at him and in return, he never fails to enlighten me. Sometimes, the enlightenment makes me unhappy when I realised I have made the wrong decision over an obstacle. At other times, it brings a smile on my face knowing I have made decisions that I can proudly walk before His Cross and tell Him I have finally abide by His Words.

For many years, I have seen and encountered so many people plucking verses from the Bible readily to defend their deeds. As most Christian friends got to know me by now, I care little about how well you can memorize the Bible. I have only one single doubt, are you living by His Words?

I Applaud the Keeping of Section 377A

Written by ED on October 26, 2007 – 9:16 am -

It sounds arrogant, or perhaps provocative to some that I would openly applaud the keeping of Section 377A. However, I am quite appalled that Section 377 itself was repealed and not amended. I will touched on this later.

Back to the point on Section 377A, we have read quite a big amount of views from everywhere, official or not. The diverse exchange of arguments is one of the rare occasions where Singaporeans literally took to the “stages” instead of the usual practice of hearing only the politicians’ words. No doubt I am not the biggest fan of our ruling party & the political scene here, I have to be fair that for once they have become spectators and they didn’t set the rules all by themselves or based on what they think is right. The citizens - Singaporeans - did.
