Banning of readers
Written by ED on June 12, 2008 – 3:20 am - Posted in Blogosphere |I thought I never had to ban anyone, but apparently I just banned 2 readers. Yep, you read it… the curse has been broken when I finally downloaded Lester’s WP Ban plugin. I have been using a few other plugins from Lester anyway, so one more is not too much. If you’re having unruly readers, you might want to consider using this fuss-free plugin.
I don’t mind a heated argument, or a passionate debate to the topic. We see it all the time so it should not be a new or strange thing anymore, especially in the cyber world. However, there are boundaries that all of us should be aware of when communicating online. To think that I barely wrote my Blog Ground Rules, obviously they haven’t been reading. But like I’ve said, if they don’t read… too bad.
There are two loser traits that I don’t like…
1. Bringing on of family and personal life in an insulting manner.
2. Subjecting my other readers and friends to insults.
It’s plain simple, if they’re in my site, then it’s my job to protect my readers from personal attacks and insults hurled at them. If it’s not within my site, there is nothing much I can do about it. The moment I spot insults, that’s the time to take a step back and cease all interactions.
Perhaps Workers’ Party’s Perry Tong is right… there are indeed Singaporeans who cannot hold a reasonable discussion without degrading into family insults, personal attacks or some other mother-father issues. I thought this was a rather cool thing to read on debating without insults.
Hope the list don’t grow. Peace. ![]()
